Nonduality Highlights: Issue #3976, Sunday, August 8, 2010, Editor: Mark
You must find your own way. Unless you find it yourself, it will
not be your own way and will take you nowhere. Earnestly live
your truth as you have found it, act on the little you have
understood. It is earnestness that will take you through, not
cleverness - your own or another's.
- Nisargadatta Maharaj, posted to ANetofJewels
These teachings are only a finger pointing toward Noble
Wisdom...They are intended for the consideration and guidance of
the discriminating minds of all people, but they are not the
Truth itself, which can only be self-realized within one's own
deepest consciousness.
- from the Lankavatara Sutra
That One which is beyond all thought is inconceivable by all
thought.
- Dionysius the Areopagite
So long as the sense of "me" and "mine"
remains, there is bound to be sorrow and want in the life of the
individual.
- Anandamayi Ma
It is by descending into the depths of his own self that man
wanders through all the dimensions of the world; in his own self
he lifts the barriers which separate one sphere from the other;
in his own self, finally, he transcends the limits of natural
existence and at the end of his way, without, as it were, a
single step beyond himself, he discovers that God is 'all in all'
and there is 'nothing but Him'.
- Gershom Scholem
What is suffering? What is death? In reality, they do not have
any existence. They appear within the framework of the
manifestations produced by the mind wrapped up in an illusion.
...In the emptiness of mind, there is no death. No one dies.
There is no suffering and no fear.
- Bokar Rinpoche
If you don't wash out the stone and sand, how can you pick out
the gold? Lower your head and bore into the hole of open
non-reification, carefully seek the heart of heaven and earth
with firm determination. Suddenly, you will see the original
thing!
- Liu I-ming
