Every
plane has its own illusion, which can be destroyed only by
another illusion on the same plane. For example, a man takes a
full meal and goes to sleep. He dreams of being hungry in spite
of the jagrat food in his stomach. To satisfy the dream hunger,
he has to take dream food. Similarly the illusion of ajnana
(ignorance) can be destroyed only by the illusion of guru upadesa
(the Master's teaching). Mukti (liberation) is ever present, and
bondage is for ever absent, yet the universal experience is the
reverse.

A great man of leisure
comes along in the quiet night.
Loud sounds of crickets' chirping.
the moon alone, shyly.
Cosmos, quiet.
Pumpkin flowers appear to laugh.
Nature, you are deep-deep secret words.
Look now at the man rowing in the river.
A sound breaks the silence.
A sound from a ditch, low.
A sound from a bamboo flute
makes my heart grieve.
Oh! The other world on this earth!
Oh! Nirvana on this earth: that is my quiet mind.
Also, tomorrow,
And so, too, the day following tomorrow.
It remains the same, moment after moment.

The appearance of the ego is not being denied.
What is being denied, however, is its reality.
Likewise, the thoughts and feelings that show
up for you are very real.
What's not real, however, is a separate 'you' who
is actually the ultimate, creative Source of these
thoughts and feelings.
Here's the Great Mystery:
Yes, there are thoughts - but there's no Thinker.
Yes, there are feelings - but there's no Feeler.
Yes, there are words - but there's no Speaker.
Yes, there are actions - but there's no Do-er.

Let it be clear, furthermore, that the ego-fiction is in no way
essential to the individual, to the total human organism, in
fulfilling and expressing his individuality. For every individual
is a unique manifestation of the Whole, as every branch is a
particular outreaching of the tree.

has no self
the spiritual man
has no achievement
the sage
has no name ...
