In this issue I am featuring a letter written to me along with my response. I have kept the sender and the sender's website anonymous.

I have also expanded the purpose of the YahooGroups list on Nonduality Gatherings.

Dear Jerry,

I have 2 questions for you:

Q: 1) What do you consider the very best three books on nonduality you have ever read?

A:

I Am That, by Nisargadatta Maharaj
Several titles by Osho (Rajneesh)
The Avadhuta Gita

I consider those the best books for me because I read them at times when I needed what they said. Others may be better served by other books.

Q: 2) Do you find any particular authentic teachers worthy of highlighting at [my website]? The reason for my question is simple. You have reviewed advaita for a very longtime and I would appreciate your view when planning for new material to highlight.

A:

Lots of teachers on the sites listed here:

http://nonduality.com/gurus.htm

On that list you'll find Sarlo's Ratings, which is kept up to date and is a good place to keep an eye on.

Watch who I feature in the Nonduality Highlights.

I've looked for the authentic in "everyone." In that sense, almost everyone is worth highlighting.

Ask yourself, What would your website look like if you couldn't mention the well-known nondual teachers? What would you write about? What would you invite from your readers? Where and how would you look for stuff to write about?

When I started in nonduality, I regarded the utterances of everyday people as highly or more highly than the famous gurus. That, it turns out, was my "thing," which I had stumbled upon.

Although I'm still involved on the Internet, my attention more recently is moving toward the streets. I'm working on developing, facilitating, and encouraging in-person, face to face gatherings, which is the topic of the next article...

Talk about meetings, gatherings, workshops, retreats, and conferences on nonduality. Are you looking for a gathering to attend? Do you meet with one or more people on a fairly regular basis? Want to tell others about it? Want more people to join you? Want to expand your meeting in different ways? Want to connect with others holding meetings of different kinds? Want to publicize your meeting? Want to learn how to improve your meeting? Want to learn how to start and how to run a nonduality gathering?

Nonduality gatherings aren't necessarily formal Western satsangs, although they could be, or they could include them. A nonduality gathering could consist of two people meeting with some regularity at a coffee shop, or it could be an annual conference with a thousand people.
