this dream
can be an open door
out of ALL dreaming
just reverse your outlook
look into the origin
of the character you assume

Charles Bukowski

The bluebird

there's a bluebird in my heart that
wants to get out
but I'm too tough for him,
I say, stay in there, I'm not going
to let anybody see
you.

there's a bluebird in my heart that
wants to get out
but I pour whiskey on him and inhale
cigarette smoke
and the whores and the bartenders
and the grocery clerks
never know that
he's
in there.

there's a bluebird in my heart that
wants to get out
but I'm too tough for him,
I say,
stay down, do you want to mess
me up?
you want to screw up the
works?
you want to blow my book sales in
Europe?

there's a bluebird in my heart that
wants to get out
but I'm too clever, I only let him out
at night sometimes
when everybody's asleep.
I say, I know that you're there,
so don't be
sad.

then I put him back,
but he's singing a little
in there, I haven't quite let him
die
and we sleep together like
that
with our
secret pact
and it's nice enough to
make a man
weep, but I don't
weep, do
you?

Hermann Hesse

The Glass Bead Game

"I suddenly realized that in the language, or at any rate in the spirit of the Glass Bead Game, everything actually was all-meaningful, that every symbol and combination of symbols led not hither and yon, not to single examples, experiments, and proofs, but into the center, the mystery and innermost heart of the world, into primal knowledge. Every transition from major to minor in a sonata, every transformation of a myth or a religious cult, every classical or artistic formulation was, I realized in that flashing moment, if seen with truly a meditative mind, nothing but a direct route into the interior of the cosmic mystery, where in the alternation between inhaling and exhaling, between heaven and earth, between Yin and Yang, holiness is forever being created."

What it is to die
(as I'm seeing it)
A revealing article on the meaning behind death and life
written by Barry Long as he approaches his own death.

"Meanwhile as the organising self - commonly called the ego -
loses interest in the external to concentrate on trying to
understand what's happening in the body, the God immanent
arises. This is extremely gradual and subtle. It is signified
by the dying individual sitting motionless and apparently
staring ahead or into space for increasing periods."

when you don't full yourself with emptiness
your fullness make you feel empty

                   ***

like water is within soda and is its essence
awareness is within experiences and is its substance

your body does not get purified by soda
but by pure water

your mind does not get purified by experiences
but by pure awareness
